What reviewers say

Trailcampro, which bench-tests trail cameras, scored it 84/100 and calls it the most popular cellular camera, with good durability for the price. They measured a 0.36-second trigger and long battery life: about 6.8 months of photos in their test pattern on lithium AAs, much less if you shoot video. Their measured detection range was 60 ft, shorter than the maker's 96 ft flash figure. Downsides they found: no screen on the camera, settings can't be changed from the web portal, and burst shots stop while photos transmit. Note the maker calls the flash low-glow; Trailcampro describes it as the red-glow model in the line.

Good

  • Low purchase price
  • Simple setup; SIM comes installed and picks the strongest carrier
  • Long battery life in photo mode
  • Built-in GPS and internal storage
  • Sturdy case with lock and tripod points

Not so good

  • Ongoing data subscription required
  • No screen; setup is all through the app
  • Measured detection range shorter than the maker's flash range
  • Video mode drains batteries fast
  • 1-year maker warranty

Who it's for

Hunters who want to check a stand or food plot from home without walking in and spooking deer. Skip it if your spot has no cell signal or you don't want a monthly plan.
